"It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words, and I truly believe this. However, I also believe that a picture should not replace words, rather, it should generate a reaction in the viewer, it should evoke an emotion, it should instigate questions and discussion - it should precipitate, rather than replace, words". Born in Oxford, England, I have always had a keen interest in the visual arts. Before emigrating to Canada I had begun painting as a hobby and worked mostly on landscapes. However, after coming to Canada I diverged into more symbolic and surrealistic formats, exploring different media and interpretative iconography. At York University in Toronto, I enrolled in the Fine Arts programme, where I was able to expand my horizons further, experimenting with installations, constructivism and photography. This latter medium led me to study Digital Photography at Algonquin College in Ottawa. The works on this site explore, through both photography and other media, many of the influences and processes that I have utilised in the past, be it painting, or drawing, or collage. Over time I will update the site with new works to expand the portfolio, so please return as often as you like to peruse my latest offerings. I truly hope you enjoy the works presented and am always open to comments and critique. My e-mail and phone information can be found on the "Contact" page.
